Mini Biography

Arbaaz Salim Abdul Rashid Khan was born on August 4, 1967, into one of Bollywood’s most prominent families. His father, Salim Khan, is a legendary screenwriter, and his mother is Sushila Charak (now known as Salma Khan).

He is the brother of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and actor-producer Sohail Khan, with whom he attended the prestigious Scindia School in Gwalior. The family also includes his sister, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and his adopted sister, Arpita Khan.

Arbaaz made his acting debut in 1996 with the film “Daraar,” where he played a villainous role as a psychotic wife-beater. His powerful performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role. This breakthrough role established him as a talented actor capable of handling complex characters.

Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, he appeared in numerous successful films, including “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya” (1998), for which he received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and “Garv: Pride and Honour” (2004), where he starred opposite his brother Salman.

In 2010, Arbaaz ventured into film production with Arbaaz Khan Productions, launching with “Dabangg,” which starred his brother Salman as the titular character Chulbul Pandey, while Arbaaz played his younger brother Makkhanchand “Makkhi” Pandey. The film became a massive blockbuster, breaking several box office records and becoming one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time. It won him the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. He later directed the sequel “Dabangg 2” in 2012, marking his directorial debut.

Arbaaz expanded into digital content with his debut in the crime-thriller web series “Poison” in 2019, and more recently gained acclaim for his role in “Tanaav” (2022-2024), the Hindi adaptation of the Israeli series “Fauda.” As a producer, he has worked on “Patna Shukla,” a social drama starring Raveena Tandon, described as “a common woman’s uncommon fight.”
